The pharmaceutical trade between India and Jordan has experienced significant growth over the past two decades. In 2004, India's pharmaceutical exports to Jordan were valued at approximately $5 million. By 2024, this figure had increased to $25.64 million, reflecting a substantial expansion in bilateral trade.
Key milestones in this evolution include the establishment of formal diplomatic relations in 1950, which laid the foundation for economic cooperation. Over the years, both nations have engaged in various trade agreements and diplomatic visits to bolster their economic ties. Notably, in December 2025, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jordan led to the signing of five key Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering areas such as renewable energy, water resource management, cultural exchange, digital solutions, and a twinning arrangement between Petra and Ellora.
The growth trajectory of this trade corridor is further evidenced by the increase in the number of Indian pharmaceutical exporters to Jordan, which rose from 50 in 2010 to 197 by 2026. Similarly, the number of Jordanian buyers has expanded, indicating a deepening commercial relationship. The average shipment value has also seen a steady rise, from $10,000 in 2010 to $16,000 in 2026, highlighting the growing scale of individual transactions.
